Bruce Wayne Thorn Friday, August 2, 1957 - Thursday, August 24, 2017
Bruce Wayne Thorn of Franklinville, NJ, passed away at home on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the age of 60. He was born in Cumberland, MD to Donald “Bud” and Doris Thorn. They lived in Fort Ashby, WV before moving to Wenonah, NJ when he was about 7 years old. Once married, he settled in Paulsboro and was there until relocating to Franklinville in 2007.
graduated from Deptford Township High School in 1975 and continued his education at Camden County Vocational School. He completed his apprenticeship and became a certified Tool and Die Maker. He was last employed by Ensinger Hyde in Grenloch, NJ.
Bruce is the beloved husband of 39 years to Anna (nee Louis): loving father of Burt (Megan) and Jesse (Ashley); loving grandfather of Aubrey and Reina. He is also survived by his brother, Brian.
Bruce was an adventurous person and he liked to travel. Road trips to new places were always an opportunity to marvel at the beauty and diversity of the landscape and wildlife. He especially enjoyed the outdoors. The phrase “You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy” was definitely written with Bruce in mind. He liked hiking and camping, but hunting and fishing were his true passions. He was always most happy when sitting in the woods with his bow or gun or being on the water with a fishing pole in his hand. He truly cherished the times spent with his family at their mountain cabin in PA and the family vacations to Canada every summer.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, WV on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6-8 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2 at the funeral home at 11 AM, with Pastor Dave Ault, officiating.. The famly will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Artemas, PA.
